Lobster, steak and friends

This weekend we went up to Lake Geneva for the annual Lobster & Steak broil. It's basically a big outdoor party in the park and an excuse to eat yummy food and drink too much beer. Our friends Dave and Britt came up to help us celebrate. Dave and Dan work together up at Great Lakes and also take classes together at Northwestern. Needless to say they were both ready for a break after a tough week of midterm exams. We had fun hanging out, wave running and of course going to the big event. We were having so much fun relaxing that we didn't even mind that they ran out of both lobster and steak and we were forced to settle for burgers.

Sunday our dear friends Denise and Ryan came up to visit for the afternoon. Denise and Ryan are in town for the week but are otherwise in the midst of their year-long around the world adventure. They just returned from a 3 week safari and before that were volunteering at an orphanage in Ghana. I can't even begin to list all the amazing things they've done on their travels but needless to say it sounds incredible. If you're interested and want to hear more about their trip you can check it out at www.ryanflahive.com.

I should also note that Denise and Ryan just helped to establish the first ever Geography Lab in Ghana complete with a functioning computer lab. Not only are they ridiculously fun people to know but they serve as a true inspiration to the rest of us to "be the change you want to see in the world."
