I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! Dan and I headed down to Yuma, AZ to visit Dan's brother, Greg, our sister-in-law, Caroline, and our adorable niece and nephew Eli and Sam. We got into town early on Friday and made the drive through the desert downstate. Being a Midwest girl I am always so enamored with all the cacti (cactus?) plants...it's just so not like anything we see at home!
Saturday we walked across the border to Mexico for a little shopping at the open air markets. Yuma is super far south (only 7 miles from the border) so it was a quick drive. We had fun haggling with the street vendors and just taking in the local scene. Luckily the weather cooperated and it was only in the mid 70's for our visit. The average temperature in Yuma in August is usually around 90+ degrees so Baby Summa and Mama Summa were definitely grateful for the reprieve!
We spent the rest of the weekend just hanging out and catching up with everyone. Oh, and we got to go to In n' Out Burger, which makes us so happy it's borderline ridiculous. I'm in the midst of uploading all our pictures but in the meantime check out this amazing video of our niece, Eli. She just turned one in May but she took this incredible infant swimming survival class and you just have to see her in the pool to really believe it. It's amazing...and she just loves the water! (Side note: I'm just figuring out how to work the video function on our camera so please forgive my voiceover and lack of editing skills!)
