Today is officially Lieutenant Dan's last day in the Navy. It's really very bittersweet. We have so many fond memories...all our Navy friends (shout out to The Crew!), all the amazing places Dan has been stationed (Goose Creek, SC - Saratoga Springs, NY - Newport, RI - Norfolk/V. Beach, VA - Great Lakes, IL), our first official date at the USNA Ring Dance, Navy finally defeating Notre Dame last year, the list goes on and on. We also remember the not so great events...Dan being deployed for 6 months a week after our wedding, living our lives apart for so many years, the sacrifices we've made along the way.
All in all, the Navy has been very good to us and we will always be grateful for having had the chance to serve our country. Today we'd like to send a special thank you to all our friends and family members who have supported us along the way. There is absolutely no way we'd be where we are today if it wasn't for all of your unconditional love and support. And if it wasn't for Dan's IA to Afghanistan being cancelled at the last minute in August '07 we wouldn't have the miracle that is Baby Mac.
Here's to those who have served, those who continue to serve, and those who will serve in the future. God bless all of you. And to my husband, I'm so very proud of you for all that you've accomplished over the past 12 years. Here's to more great things ahead!
