The not-so-cowardly lion

Playing at the park

Trick-or-treating

The kids right before "the incident"

What a beautiful weekend! The weather was a little cold, but we were all running around so much I don't think any of us noticed. Saturday we spent some time playing with Mac at his favorite park. It's so fun to take him there now that he can run around and climb on all the equipment. It wound up being a little brisker than we had originally anticipated, which is probably why Mac is battling a case of the sniffles today.

The fall colors really came out in all their glory to help us celebrate Mac's second Halloween. He was only seven days old last year, so this was the first time we got to dress him up and take him trick-or-treating. We debated up until the last minute whether he'd be a dinosaur or a lion, but the lion prevailed in the end. Unfortunately for our little boy, the lion costume is a tad bit cumbersome. We dressed him up, set him down on the ground outside and he promptly ran down the sidewalk and fell on his face. Poor guy scraped his nose up a bit, which is why there aren't a lot of pictures of him alone. After that, he was either being carried or holding hands for the rest of the evening!

After a quick loop around our block, we headed over to visit our friends the Reid's for a Halloween family get-together. It was fun to watch all of the kids playing up until Mac got into an "altercation" with another little boy named Charlie. The battle seemed to be over the affection of adorable little Frances. Mac walked over to Charlie and Frances to see what they were doing and "WHAM!" Charlie pushed Mac down. Not one to be outdone, Mac promptly slugged Charlie in the shoulder. The entire event was honestly hilarious once we wiped away all the tears and refocused everyone on watching, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." A bit later, Charlie came over to Mac to try and play and Mac literally tackled poor Charlie to the ground. Dan and I are feverently hoping that we're not going to be spending a lot of time in the principle's office one day!
