A taste of the Midwest

One of the things I always love most about fall is taking the family to pick apples at the orchard up in Wisconsin. Once we moved, I assumed this tradition would have to end. Little did I know we'd find an apple haven of our own right here in sunny San Diego! About 50 miles east of us there's a little town named Julian. Not only do they have tons of apple orchards, they also have pear trees, which is something entirely new to us Midwestern folk.
Not only do pears smell delicious...
 ...they taste good, too!
We spent the day exploring the orchards and downtown area, which is absolutely charming. Mac and Paige were thrilled to do something that I think felt a little familiar to them. Who am I kidding? I think it was more exciting for me to realize we can keep some of our family traditions alive...even in our new city!
