A few weeks ago, Sue Sue arrived for her visit with a special gift...the Elf on the Shelf. We wanted to get one last Christmas, but thought the kids might be too young. This year, we are in definite need of an attitude adjuster and were anxious to break it out of the box. We waited until we got home from Hawaii and then sat the kids down to read the story and introduce them to our new friend, "Buddy."
Meet Buddy!
Immediately both kids started crying because they wanted to hug the elf, which we had to explain is "against the rules." After much arguing, we agreed on "just one introductory hug" so everyone felt like they'd been properly introduced. Today is only Day Two with our elf so it's too soon to see if it's going to work. All I can say is that I've been leveraging the heck out of this thing already.
"What? You don't want to eat your dinner? Oh, that's too bad. Buddy will have to tell Santa."
"Oh? Did you just hit your brother in the head? That makes Mommy sad. Buddy will have to add that to his naughty list."
I so wish I had invented this thing. Now if I can only figure out something else to use after the holidays!
