I came across an article today on CNN.com about people who steal sugar packets and the psychological rationale behind this behavior. Now I have a confession...for as long as I can remember, I have swiped Splenda packets from restaurants. I can't really tell you why - it's almost like I have this crazy fear that I'll be caught without enough sugar substitute for my morning coffee.
Anyone who has ever dined out with me has surely witnessed me putting packets into my purse. It's almost a family joke that I always have a little yellow rectangle somewhere in my possession. The funniest thing about this article is that I don't fit into any of the descriptions of people who steal sugar. I'm not a Gen Xer with a sense of entitlement, I'm definitely not a hoarder and other than this I've never stolen a single thing in my life.
Here's wishing all of you an extra sweet long weekend and hoping I can curb my kleptomania behavior in 2012!
