The amazing race

 View of the Coronado Bridge

When we moved to California and I became a SAHM, I quickly realized I needed a hobby to keep me occupied. Since the weather here is gorgeous almost every day, I decided to try running.
Pre-race...walking around and trying not to freak out

Historically, I have had a love/hate relationship with running and even exercise in general. Of course the physical results and health benefits are great, but seriously who wouldn't rather be enjoying a delicious cheese platter and a glass of wine? Nevertheless, I decided to sign myself up for a 10k race as insurance that I wouldn't just quit. I also told Dan about my plans just because it's always a little harder to chicken out once you've actually told someone else!

After several weeks of training, I'm happy to report that I actually survived my first race this weekend! I was nervous up until the start gun, but once we started running I found myself relaxing a bit and enjoying the scenery. Dan had to work this weekend, so luckily my Mom was able to come out and cheer me on at the finish line. Having someone there rooting for you honestly makes all the difference!
Exactly 1 minute before the race started. Notice I'm not fighting to get to the front of the pack!

Next up - a 15k in March followed by a (gulp) half marathon in May. See? Now that I'm told all of you my plans I have to stick to them, right?!
Ta-daaaaaahhhhh!!!
