We headed off on our adventure early in the morning as we knew we had a bit of a drive. After about 1 1/2 hours in the car we hit the mountains. We slowly climbed up to a 7,000 ft. elevation and were immediately met with breathtaking views. We made our way to the charming little town of Big Bear, which can best be described as looking like something out of, "The Great Outdoors." There were tons of little cabins - some new, some a bit more rustic (to put it mildly!) The lake itself was gorgeous and overflowing with Pontoon Boats, people on paddle boards and in kayaks.
We set up camp at the only public beach on the lake. It was truly picture-perfect. The kids could splash around in the water and we could lounge in the grass. The great thing about Big Bear is that they also have a huge ski resort in winter. We'll definitely be heading back again soon for a bit more exploring!
My little fish. The water was only 65 degrees and he wouldn't get out!
