Hanging with the fam pre-race
Celebrating with our friends the Indians post-race
I would be remiss not to post some pictures from what I'm sure will become an annual tradition. This Thanksgiving, we decided to participate in Father Joe's Thanksgiving Day 5k, which is a huge - seriously, huge - race that takes place every year in Balboa Park. Being the family that we are we of course had to outfit ourselves in hilarious turkey-themed costumes. And because we only had two costumes we, of course, had to have a competition to see who got to wear these costumes. The night before the race we set up an Amazing Race-esque obstacle course in the neighborhood park. We invited everyone running the race with us to participate in the competition. All I can tell you is that the course involved monkey bars, tequila, free throws and some near puking. I'm proud to say Dan and I claimed first prize, meaning we won the right to wear the turkey costumes. Next year we'll be upping the stakes for sure so all you future Galloping Gizzards team members better start prepping now! Oh - and did I mention Dan became a local celebrity in his costume? Something about a 6'4" turkey in sunglasses is pretty funny. He was interviewed by the local news station and then we
all got to be on the competing news station. I can honestly say I never though my 15
seconds of fame would be spent dressed as a turkey.
