Belize

This year Dan and I are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. Completely crazy. Even crazier that we've been together for 15 years. Since we haven't taken many vacations without the kids, we decided this was the year to go somewhere by ourselves. We decided on Belize as we'd been looking into traveling there with the family last fall. The trip ultimately fell through, so when we started talking about places we still wanted to visit Belize was high on the list.
View from our hotel room. And yes, it was that amazing.

Doing a little red snapper fishing.
First night in town and we found a Chicago bar. Naturally we had to check it out!
Our beloved Sue Sue was gracious enough to come out and watch the kids for a week. I have to say walking out the door was tough, but once we were on the airplane it was amazing. It's so rare nowadays that we get any real "alone time." It was so nice to spend time together and remember what it is we love about each other and how we came to be best friends in the first place.

From the time we landed in Belize City to the time we left, the entire vacation was amazing. The Belizean people were by far our favorite part of the trip. Well, that and the non-stop Belikin - the official water beer of Belize. We had so much fun and so many crazy adventures - way too many to capture in this post. Best of all, we had time to relax and remember how important it is to take time to appreciate one another. Here's to a lot more years and a lot more adventures!
Visiting the Mayan ruins near Guatemala
On top of the ruins. And for context, I am freaking out in this picture because we're so close to the edge.
Adding our name to the wall at Palumba's bar
A Belizean speed bump = a coconut and a rope. Nope, I'm not kidding.
Ahhh...Belikin! I don't know if it was so good or we were just so happy to be day drinking without the kids!
Heading out for our first zipline adventure.
Caving in the jungle. Did I mention we ate some termites?
Pitch black in the caves minus our headlamps. Was that a fish? Or a snake?!
