We're finally in our new rental house and are absolutely loving every second. Dan and I both feel like we won the lotto or something going from 1200 square feet to 2100 square feet over night! I swear, though, all of us still hang out together in one small space - creatures of cramped urban habit, I guess.
Anyway, the only bad news was that we found out right before we moved in last Friday that the moving truck was going to be delayed...by eight days. Of course I didn't pack for the worst-case scenario, so we've been making due the past few days with very limited supplies. We told the kids we're "camping" and are playing at being creative with what we have on hand.
For example, did you know a screwdriver makes for a very handy can opener? Oh yes, it does.
Or that rewashing plastic cups you swiped from a local restaurant and reusing plastic silverware and plates is truly economical? Very California...we're trying to be more green.
Best of all...did you know sleeping on an inflatable air mattress is actually a great way to strengthen your lower back muscles? All the time you spend flipping from side to side during the night is a good workout. Plus, bath towels swiped from the corporate housing make for nifty pillows AND blankets. I mean, who knew, right?!?
All that aside, it's seriously hard to complain when you're living in paradise. We'll look back on all of this and laugh. Plus, it's tough to beat this sunset every night from our back patio, camping or not.
