Brooklyn or bust

Two weeks ago I went out to Brooklyn to run the Brooklyn Half with my sister. When I lived in New York, I didn't spend a ton of time in Brooklyn. It was still "up and coming" then, so we spent most of our time running around below 14th Street (but not past Avenue A ;)

I haven't been to NYC in a few years and it was so much fun to be back in the heart of things. I forgot how much energy the city gives off. It's really not like anywhere else in the world. And the food - oh, the food! I think I ate my body weight in meat! It was amazing!
Pork buns. All I can say is pork buns. Oh, and ham platter. Mmmmmmm...
Laura and her boyfriend, Derek, were fantastic hosts. They put me up at their place, picked me up from the race and even obliged my 11pm bedtime (hey, I'm old. I get tired.) Thanks again to you guys for giving this mama a much-needed break!
Sunday morning run (I mean, we had to work off the pork buns!)
My old 'hood and door - this place never changes, I swear
